The fight for 5th spot & a place in the Uefa cup in still on after Everton& Aston Villa had a dramatic match which ended in a draw.The game started with Everton pushing Aston villa back & trying to get the early goal & they came close on a couple of occasions espescally when Yakubu went past Reo-Coker in the 20th minute & drove his shot in the bottom corner which Carson saved the rebound went straight to Fernandesbut his shot went well wide.Villa went close with the dangerous Ashley Young hitting his free kick straight ontothe upright with howard beaten & then delivered a cross into the penalty box which Mellberg headed wide.The heavy rain was playing its part as well as the players were sliding into tackles & couldn’t really stop but the ref had other ideas & after using common sense at the start as,the game wore on started using his yellow card more often. Everton started the second half as they did the first & was keeping possession & pushing Villa back and they got there goal in the 55th minute Yakubu showed some great skill & got to the penalty box & crossed the ball in but it went behindeveryone but Phil Neville came steaming in & hit his shot first time towards the goal which then went on to hit Larsen & deflect into the goal past Carson.His celebrations showed how much it meant to him & the rest of the team.Everton then had the upper hand as Piennaar tried to cross into the box but it became more of a shot which had Carson back pedaling & palming it away from the top corner.Aston Villa were then getting desperate & sent on Patrick berger & Marlon Harewood & went to 3 at the back with 4 up top.It didn’t take long to pay off & Barry swung a cross into the box & there was Agbonlahor to show a good touch & put it into the net. This woke Everton up again & started to push as Villa went to a back 4 & it was a great inter passing by Artea & carsley who the put in a delightful cross behind Reo-Coker & there was Yobo to volley the ball past Carson like he was a top striker.Aston villa then kick off & without Everton touching the ball Barry put in a cross which Carew just had to guide it into the net as no-one closed down Barry & paid the price this was a great football match which will go to the last day.
