Real Madrid moved closer to winning the La Liga title for second year in a row when the defeated Racing Santander.That’s puts them 10 points ahead of Villarreal with only 5 games left.Racing started the better & got 2 corners early on but they came to nothing.It was Raul with the first chance of the game after 14 Min’s when he stuck out his big toe to poke a cross from Robinho passed Tono to put them into the lead.Real got more confident after going a goal up when Sneijder fired just over the bar & Raul should have scored but got dispossessed by Cesar Navas.Then on 36 min Racing has a chance when Mohamed Tchite got one on one with Casillas but he failed to really test him.Racing were now getting into the game more & more towards the end of the half when Navas had a header that just missed.Racing now had a eye on a equalizer and the champions league spot.
The second half started with Racing trying all they can to get back onto level terms & could of done if it wasnt for Fabio Cannavaro’s last ditch tackle to stop Tchite’s run through.Racing tried harder & harder but just couldn’t create any goal scoring chances.It was Real who had the next best chance on 60 Min’s when Rabinho had a shot but was saved by Tono’s legs.Racing kept trying but Real was holding them comfortably.They should have doubled there lead on the 80th min but Robbin made a hash of his volley.Sub Higuain then had a goal disallowed because of a foul by Raul.Racing then pushed everyone forward to get that goal but it was in vain as Baptista passed to Balboa who turned & laid the ball in front of Higuain who then slotted the ball passed Tono to give Real the 2-0 win.
