Arsenal ended there premiership campaign with a win at Sunderland & started to think what could have bin as they only ended up 4 points behind the champions United. They will look into all the games they lost when they were ahead & conceded goals late on to either draw or loose the match.Sunderland on the other hand need to reshape the team & get some more quality players if they want to survive next season.

Even though it was a end of season affair & both teams had secured there places the game started with all the players getting stuck in.But it was sunderland who made the best start with only 15 seconds on the clock Edwards had a smash from about 30 yards & the Arsenal keeper Fabianski had to be alert to make the stop.Arsenal were rocked abit with the fast start but didn’t take them long to settle down & take a bit of control.

Danny Collins showed he didn’t want to loose his place in the team when he went real strong into Eboue just like his boss used to & he had to be stretched off but was okay to continue.Arsenal then put a move together & the football fell at Adebayor’s feet only for the Sunderland keeper Fulop to dive at his feet & make the save. But another flowing move resulted in the goal.Gilberto picked up the football from midfield & made a delightful pass splitting the defence in two & Walcott ran onto & placed the ball passed the keeper & into the bottom right hand corner of the net.

Sunderland tried to fight back & were holding Arsenal okay but the away defence were just to strong for them & keeping them at bay & giving them no chance in the football match. In fact Arsenal could have scored again when Senderos had a shot from all of 35 yards that went over the bar & Walcott could of had a second when he should have hit the back of the net from 7 yards out when Adebayor put him in.     Arsene Wenger

Sunderland started the second half with a sub.Kenwyne Jones had to come off as he injured his wrist blocking a shot late in the first half & he was replaced by O’Donovan. It was the sub who nearly brought Sunderland back into the game as he had a chance with a header from a Collins cross after Ross Wallace had put him in but the header went over the bar.

Then Arsenal had a free kick after Whitehead had used his chest to give the ball back to his keeper Fulop from a Walcott cross but it was adjudged to be a back pass.So they got a indirect free kick which Gilberto stepped up but could only fire it well wide. Then it was up the other end & it should have bin a equaliser .O’Donovan found himself all alone in the penalty box after another sub Dwight Yorke had put him in & he made a right mess of it!.

The football match moved into the later stages & Sunderland weren’t dead yet they could have had a penalty when Chopra had a tangle with Song but the ref waved it away & Fabianski had to save well from O’Donovan. But the Arsenal sub Randall made a impression when he came on & looked very lively. At only 18 years old he could be one for the future.First he had a goal disallowed when he was adjudged to be offside & then having a shot saved by Fulop.Arsenal end with winning the football match which was lively throughout but for both football clubs it could have bin.        Roy Keane
