Germany 3 Turkey 2

Germany made it through to the final of Euro2008 when they beat a Turkey side who i think deserved to win the match more then they did. Turkey out played Germany & if they had a world class striker up front would have put Germany out of site in the first half. Joachim Low must be secretly worrying over that display which was poor defensively poor passing poor movement etc if they face Spain or Russia in the final if they play like that again they mite as well pack there bags now as they won’t win this tournament like that.
Turkey started the match with only 14 fit players because of the injuries & suspensions but that didn’t stop them giving it a go. Lahm who was made to look ordinary all night made the first mistake on 7 Min’s when he let Altintop into the box & Lehmann had to come out & save in another good build up then British born Kazim-Richards who a fantastic chance he was set up in the box but his shot rattled the crossbar & the resulting corner was cleared. Germany had there first chance when Schweinsteiger had a free kick but it was straight at Rustu Ballack then stole in but it was a good tackle by Topal & cleared then Turkey took the lead it was a throw in no one picked up Altintop who crossed into the box Kazim-Richards took a shoot that looped into the air came of the cross bar & there was Boral to bundle it over the line with the Germany defence just standing there & Lehmann was all over the place.
It didn’t take Germany long to respond Ballack set Podolski free down the left got to the by line crossed in & there was Schweinsteiger to side foot it into the net to equalise it wasn’t what they deserved & had another chance moments later when Klose was in the box turning one way then another put in a dangerous cross that Zan had to clear. But Turkey weren’t going to fold Altintop took a free kick the Lehmann had to put over the bar then Podolski broke clear & with Klose making up the ground he selfishly fired over the cross bar instead of passing. Boral then had a free kick towards the end of the half which Lehmann again had to save & a Sabri shot sailed over the bar with Lehamnn being the busiest goalkeeper it has half time.
Second half started were Turkey left off forcing Germany back & they had a free kick that Lehmann had to save from Altintop but then a bit of controversy. Lahm was in the box with the football & Sabri came in & it looked like he just bundled him over on the line but the ref said no penalty the German bench were going mad & it did look like a penalty or at least a free kick. Klose then set up Hitzlsperger who took a shot but it was well wide Kazin then when down the right & set up Sabri who was better going forward then defending shooting straight at Lehmann Boral then cut inside but could only shoot at the big keeper also Ballack who hadn’t been in the match that much the did a good run & set up Hitzlsperger but he could only shoot wide.
With everyone looking at extra time the game then exploded into life with 3 goals in 10 minutes the first goal was a mistake by the Turkey keeper it was Lahm who got down the left & put in a perfect cross with Rustu coming out to meet it he was no where near it with his punch & Klose was there to head into the empty net to put them in the lead. Just when you though Germany would hold on to win the match Turkey had other ideas Sabri got down the right went round Lahm like he wasn’t there put i a great cross along the floor & there was Senturk to poke the football past Lehmann & into the net at his near post he wasn’t having a good time or match was Lehmann. But we were at the stage of thinking extra time again but Germany popped up with the winner .
Lahm had the ball & went past Kazim who looked like he injured himself trying to keep up with him when turning ran towards the box played a one two with Hitzlsperger & smashed a great shoot high into the net past Rustu nothing he could do & that turned out to be the winning goal & Germany through to the final…
