Hull’s remarkable season continues as they beat West Ham & Stoke pile more misery onto Tottenham.
Hull keep producing the impossible as they win again by defeating West Ham 1-0. It was West Ham who were the better team in the first half & with Craig Bellamy back in the starting line up he did pose the greatest threat to Hull with his powerful runs. But West Ham seemed to lack that killer pass or instinct in the last third of the field & Hull managed to hold on the a goalless first half. But Hull started the much better in the second half & started to push West Ham back into there own half. After 52 minutes the pressure paid off & Hull took the lead they had a corner on the far side & it was whipped in by Andy Dawson & there was Michael Turner to rise above everybody & put a powerful header into the net. Carlton Cole came the closest to the equaliser 10 minutes later when his shot from 6 yards could only find the underside of the bar & come out. West Ham did press for the equaliser but Hull looked comfortable & held on for another win which takes them up to third in the league..
Tottenham stay rooted to the bottom of the premier league when they lost again this time to newly promoted Stoke 2-1. The football match was even to start off with but it took a lapse of concentration in Gareth Bales part after 25 minutes his reckless challenge on Tom Soares not only got him a red card but gave Stoke a penalty which Danny Higginbotham stepped out & gave Heurelho Gomes no chance. But Tottenham did get back into the game 7 minutes later it looked off-side but it did after all count it was Alan Hutton who toke a shot from outside the area but it got deflected 7 fell to Darren Bent who looked off side but managed to fend off a incoming Stoke defender & stab the ball home through the goalkeepers legs. The first half came to a close all square but the second half saw Stoke take the lead after 10 minutes from the restart Stoke moved the ball around & got it out wide to Sidibe who put in a telling cross & there was Delap who stole in front of his marker & put the football into the net. As Tottenham looked to get back into the game it ended on a very bizarre note as Jonathan Woodgate was sent off for a reckless challenge on Soares which gave Stoke another penalty but Fullers could only hit the post & from the rebound hit the other post & that rebound fell to Delap who could only hit the crossbar!!!!. But Stoke did hold on for the win which should do them good & Tottenham well how long has the manager got his job??..
Newcastle were denied a last gasp win as Man City had Stephen Ireland to thank as his late goal ended the match 2-2. The match started in dramatic style & it only took 15 minutes to get the first controversy the ref Rob Stlyes awarded Man City a penalty when he adjudged Habib Beye had brought down Robinho in the box where replays showed he made a very good tackle but the ref saw it differently & also sent him off to boot. But Newcastle fought there way back & got the equalizer just before half time when the ball broke for Shola Ameobi & he slotted the ball past a disspering Joe Hart that ended the eventful first half all square. The second half started with Newcastle pushing forward & got there rewards in the 64th minute when Geremi cross into the Man City penalty box but instead of clearing the ball Richard Dunne when & turned it into his own net & gave Newcastle a unlikely lead. As Man City pushed to find the equalizer they nearly found a way with Stephen Ireland bringing out a excellent save from Shay Given with 6 minutes left of the game but only 3 minutes later Man City got what they were after when the same player Stephen Ireland fired home from close range to claim a point for his team & deny Newcastle a worth win..
