Fulham 2 Birmingham 0
Fulham scored twice to keep alive there hopes of a dramatic escape & send Birmingham into the drop zone & steering relegation in the face.
Fulham started the best early on as they looked like a team who needed to win to have a chance of staying up.Brian McBride was up for it & looked the most player with a purpose when he had a strong header which hit the Birmingham bar but he was rules off side.Birmingham was living dangerously when Taylor had to be at his best to pull of a save from Simon Davis 10 yard shot from a Bullard free kick.
It was Birmingham who should have taken the lead when Forssell really made a mess of it when he was right in front of goal but his mis control cost him dear.James McFadden then got into the game when his control & good work found Forssell who tried to get his shot away but for a timely challenge from Aaron Hughes he could have scored.Birmingham then tried for the rest of the half but didn’t creative much & it remained 0-0. Arsenal 1 Everton 0
Arsenal keep in the hunt for the automatic champions league place while Everton have to go to the final week to secure the fifth spot & Uefa cup football next season.
This had end of season football match written all over it as Arsenal left out argubly there best 4 midfielders through suspension & injury while Everton went 5 in midfield & Johnson up top & left Yakubu on the bench. In the first half Arsenal had all the possession & Everton kept 10 men behind the ball & there weren’t a lot of chances it was more like a party than a football match. David Moyes
Theo Walcott did have a chance but fired wide & Gilberto had a header which was way off target then Everton had a chance when Johnson was put through from a superb ball from Fernandes & his shot came off the legs of the young goalkeeper Fabianski. Then from the corner Lescott found himself free to plant a header only for Denilson to clear it off the line & away.
Liverpool 1 Man City 0
The first half was played liker a typical end of season game it was played at a slow pace with lots of passing & movement but nothing really to shout about. It took a Ryan Babel header that went just over to really signal any intent of making the game more interesting.Steven Gerrard in midfield was trying to push his team forward & had a long range shot himself that just went wide & went close again when he force Joe Hart into a stretching finger tip save after his curling shot looked heading for the goal. Sven Goran Eriksson
The rest of the first half nothing else rally happened as both teams looked tired with it being a hot day & nothing really to play for.
Man Utd 4 West Ham 1
Man Utd are now in sight of the premiership title & will be watching Chelsea’s match on Monday with anticipation knowing a win against Wigan next Sundaywill give them the title.Man Utd showed no hang over from there win against Barcelona on Tuesday night while West Ham showed no promise that they could spoil it for them like they did last year.In fact it only took them 3 minutes to score Ronaldo had the ball went past Neill & while the rest of the defence just stood back & watched Ronaldo raced into the box & had a shot which was deflect into the goal & past Robert Green.
Mind you West Ham nearly got back into the game straight away when Van Der Sar had some uncertainty & it was left to Evra to clear off the line from Zomora’s shot & then they had a penalty appeal turned down when Brown had handled in the box while he was under pressure from Zomora but the ref instead gave a foul.
United then went up the pitch to double there lead when Hargreaves made a long cross into the box only for Ronaldo to arrive & it hit his thigh & into the net. Then we had a spectacular goal when West Ham old boy Tevez hit a shot from 25 yards which dipped, moved & swerved & beat green all ends up to score.
But back came West Ham when Dean Ashton scored a great over head kick to get them back into the game. Then just before half time there was a ridiculous situation when Nani after a bit of a races with Neill then went & head butted him & then had the gore to fall onto the fall & hold his own head he was promptly sent off & he deserved it Ronaldo
Derby 2 Arsenal 6
Arsenal ran wild over a relegated Derby who now could become the worse team in premiership football history. It was Derby who started the better & looked like taking the game to Arsenal .They nearly took the lead when Sterjovski had a 20 yard shot which has heading for the goal but was deflected by Alex Song which had the Arsenal keeper who this was his first premiership match going the wrong way but it dropped just wide.Darby then done there usual trick by making a mistake that undone all the good work at the start when Darren Moore gave then ball away to Van Persie who then played in Bendtner who shot under the despairing Carrol.Derby then had a let off when Van Persie fired over from point blank range but Derby then got back level through a free kick.Robbie Savage floated one over & Mceveley got half a head to it but the rebound feel right at his feet & he managed to poke it in from 5 yards.Could there be a surprise in the football result no there wasn’t as Arsenal stepped up a gear & poor old Derby’s lead last all but 10 Min’s when Toure clipped a ball into the penalty box & Moore made another mistake buy stepping out but it left Van Persie on side who controlled the ball onto his chest & smashed it in. Arsene Wenger
